Asking for help is difficult, especially when we think only "crazy" people need psychological and emotional support.

|
In Reality - basically normal people encounter life issues that temporarily overwhelm coping skills. And these basically normal people do just what you are doing - they look for professional help.

Why Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy can help people change the ways they think, feel and behave IF they have some degree of willingness to make these changes.
Change happens when the pain of not changing exceeds the fear of change.
-
What should I look for in a Psychotherapist?
Basically, a psychotherapist should be a licensed mental professional with knowledge and expertise in the issues that you are currently facing.
-
What "knowledge and expertise" do you have as a psychotherapist?
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 18 years experience in individual and family psychotherapy, I have had the opportunity to help people learn to effectively cope with a wide variety of issues that at one time felt overwhelming. And with specialized expertise in addictions, including the family impact of addiction, I have had the opportunity to be a part of the recovery process for many of my clients.
In addition, I have significant experience in Employee Assistance Programs so am well aware of the impact of the workplace on an individual's personal and family life.
Finally, I have helped many clients learn positive stress management techniques usable in their everyday life.
